Pumpkin Patch!!

“I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.” -Henry David Thoreau

We went to the pumpkin patch for a field trip for Greta's preschool last week. It was awesome. I was so afraid it was going to rain, but it didn't! The kids got to take a tractor ride, see some animals, pick a pumpkin, and have a snack. It was a great field trip-- a little stressful for me trying to corral active Austin, but still fun. This last Saturday, we went to the same pumpkin patch, but this time with family. It's a tradition every year. It didn't rain this time either, but it was very muddy. Austin loved the puddles. There's something about boys and mud that I just can't fight. Greta didn't even want to pick up her pumpkin at her field trip because she would get her hands dirty. Huge difference. After we got our pumpkin and played in the barn, we went to the traditional pumpkin sling shot. You pick little pumpkins and shoot them into a large field with targets at the end. If you hit a target, they blow this big horn and you win a giant pumpkin and get to write your name on a board. I have been doing this sling shot for many years. I have always dreamed of winning. Well, on Saturday, my dreams came true!! I was SO EXCITED that I hit the bulls eye! Yay me! My niece took a video from her phone of the whole thing. I am proudly displaying my giant pumpkin on my front porch.

I love the pumpkin patch pictures - I need to see if we have one around here.

I hope Cameron's mom recovers well from the fruit in her brain:)
