Miscellaneous Madness

This is my life in a nutshell for the past
week or so.

Greta had a birthday!! She turned 3 years old yesterday. She woke up saying, "I'm a big kid now!" Cameron was listing off a bunch of new things she gets to do as a 3 year old, and she got really excited and said, "I get to cook all by myself now!" I quickly shot that one down. For her birthday breakfast, she had dinosaur shaped almond butter toast with sprinkles on it and melon. She thought that was pretty special. She got a birthday present from her grandparents... a new tricycle! It's a really neat one. She loves to pedal it all around the cul-de-sac. At first, she couldn't steer very well and we really had to watch out for Austin. He almost got nailed a few times.

This is Greta today. I put her down for a nap and went outside with the monitor. I heard her talking for a while, then I thought she went to sleep. We came inside to see her sleeping in the hallway. She sometimes likes to open her door and wait there until someone finds her. I guess she got bored of that.

Ahh, my son. We do love him. The toilet paper holder has been broken for many months in the kids' bathroom. Cameron FINALLY fixed it! I was really happy when it was done, and I hung a roll on there right away. Not five minutes later, Austin walked into the back with the ENTIRE roll of toilet paper with him. We have a VERY long hallway. So, needless to say, I still don't use the toilet paper holder.

We had a surprise birthday party for Cameron's Dad on Saturday. Lydia, Cameron's sister, was in charge of inviting a few friends to come and I would be in charge of the food. Well, the list got longer and longer until we had nearly 40 people planning on coming. It turned out to be a big deal. We spent the whole day on Saturday preparing food for this thing. I made a pretty fun fruit platter though, and it only took 30 minutes or so. We had a good time, and now we have Greta's party to look forward to on Saturday. Sheesh. I'm getting tired of parties. September and April are big birthday months for my family.

Papa is building storage buildings next door. Greta got to help out and climb the ladder and go into the little attic and onto the roof! Then she and Papa found some yummy blackberries in the yard to eat.

I made yet another apple pie. I just can't see all those apples on my tree go to waste. Anyhoo, I know last time I said I used a Pilsbury crust because I don't like to make crust... WELL let me tell you!! I just found a great recipe that is very easy to do. So I thought I'd give it a try. You mix all the ingredients in the food processor. It was super easy. It tasted buttery and flaky, just as a pie crust should. It's on joyofbaking.com. For some reason the apple pie recipe on there won't open, so I just clicked on the blueberry pie and used that crust recipe. My family really enjoyed it.
