"Let children walk with Nature, let them see the beautiful blendings and communions of death and life, their joyous inseparable unity, as taught in woods and meadows, plains and mountains and streams of our blessed star, and they will learn that death is stingless indeed, and as beautiful as life." ~ John Muir
I'm going to feature a different park in this area every week or two through the Spring and Summer. I love parks! What an awesome place to go with the kids! And best of all, they're free! The first park I am featuring is one of my favorites - Bradley Lake. It's about 3 minutes from my house in a car, and 15 minute walk through the woods. It's a great walk to do in the Summer when the Huckleberries and Blackberries are in season because the best bushes with the biggest berries are found along that trail. My kids could spend half the day at the berry bushes. Most of the time, however, we drive. This park is huge. It has two large play areas, a big open grassy field area with a covered picnic area. There is a beautiful lake with a paved trail going all the way around. Many people fish in this lake too. This park is always busy with walkers, joggers, roller-bladers, dog walkers, frisbee lovers, LARPERS (so funny to watch). There are also baseball fields. My kids especially like the play area. There are lots of things to climb on, and lots of slides. The newest play area is also designed for handicapped children. There is a swing that can be used with just your arms and it has a seatbelt. It also has lots of ramps and puzzles and musical instruments to play. Away from the play area, there is a hill that is perfect for rolling down. Greta has figured out how to roll pretty well. Austin, on the other hand, scoots on his bum. It's cute. What a great park to have so close!
